Cambridge Who's Who Names Stephen T. Makrinos Professional of the Year in Military Technology
Stephen Makrinos uses his knowledge of warfare to develop technology to enhance national security
COLTS NECK, NJ, November 30, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Stephen Makrinos, Vice President and Chief Scientist at CACI International, Inc., has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Military Technology. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.
Mr. Makrinos, who has devoted his career to national security, is the vice president and chief scientist at CACI International, Inc.; he has served in this capacity for 11 years. After retiring from the military, he decided to venture into the technology arena and has worked in the field for 30 years, where he has broadened his knowledge of sensor integration, radar systems, electronic warfare and airborne survivability equipment.
As a senior member of the technical and management team at CACI, he has developed a strategy with specific programs and initiatives and grown the C4ISR division group (formerly IDS) from a staff of 60 to more than 890 members in the course of six years. His additional recent accomplishments include orchestrating and supporting technical team efforts that resulted in the award of multimillion-dollar contracts, including ETOSS (engineering technical and operational support systems) and S3 (strategic services sourcing). Prior to advancing to his current positions, Mr. Makrinos was a technical director, principal deputy and project manager at CACI International, Inc., and worked for CECOM and the U.S. Army's Communications-Electronic Research Development and Engineering Center. Moreover, he has developed and presented numerous briefings, technical white papers and reports in his area of expertise, as well as written several articles for Sea Technology Magazine and co-authored the book "Camp Evans: The Untold Story."
A graduate of Brooklyn College, Mr. Makrinos holds a Master of Science in physics and a Bachelor of Science in physics. Additionally, he earned an MBA in management from Monmouth University, and has completed coursework and programs at some of the top institutes in the nation, including The Johns Hopkins University, Harvard University, Syracuse University and The University of Pennsylvania. He is a certified level III acquisition professional and holds a degree in project management from Defense Acquisition University. An admired professional, he is active in field-related associations, including AOC, Industrial Representatives Association, Association of the United States Army, United States Field Artillery Association and AFCEA International.
